“O Comitê Orientador do Fundo Amazônia (COFA) aprovou novas diretrizes e critérios para a aplicação de recursos nesta terça-feira, em Brasília. Foi a terceira reunião do COFA desde a retomada do fundo, em janeiro. 

“The Advisory Committee for the Amazon Fund (ACAF) approved new directives and criteria for the application of appeals this Friday in Brasília. It was the third ACAF meeting since the resumption/renewal of the fund in January.

As diretrizes são baseadas no Plano de Ação para Prevenção e Controle do Desmatamento na Amazônia Legal (PPCDAm), lançado em junho pelo governo federal. Maior iniciativa de REDD+ do planeta, o Fundo Amazônia tem R$ 3,9 bilhões em caixa, doados por Noruega e Alemanha. 

The directives are based on the Plan of Action for the Prevention and Control of Deforestation in the Legal Amazon Rainforest (PPCDAm), launched in June by the federal government. The greatest REDD+ initiative in the world, the Amazon Fund has R$3.9 billion in hand, donated by Norway and Germany.

Por decisão do governo anterior, o fundo ficou paralisado nos últimos quatro anos. Desde janeiro, com o decreto de reinstalação do COFA assinado pelo presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, novas doações que somam R$ 3,2 bilhões foram anunciadas por Alemanha, Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, União Europeia e Suíça. 

Due to a decision made/set forth by the previous government, the fund has remained paralyzed over the past four years. Since January, with the decree for the reimplementation of the ACAF, signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, new donations that add up to R$3.2 billion were announced by Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Switzerland. 

A diretora Socioambiental do BNDES, Tereza Campello, destacou que o PPCDAm será o guia do fundo. ‘Temos, a partir de hoje, a possibilidade de receber projetos para ações de fortalecimento da agricultura familiar, dos extrativistas, da produção sustentável, projetos que fortaleçam a bioeconomia, o restauro florestal, o monitoramento, um conjunto de ações que proporcionam um novo modelo sustentável,’ disse Campello.”

The social and environmental director of the BNDES, Tereza Campello, highlighted/remarked/pointed out/underscored that the PPCDAm will be the guide/handbook for the fund. ‘From now on we have the possibility to receive projects to strengthen actions for family farming, extractivists, sustainable production, projects that strengthen the bioeconomy, forest restoration/repair, monitoring, a set/group/range of actions that provide/offer/deliver a new sustainable model,’ said Campello.
