While consumers want to support local businesses, these businesses need to make the process and experience as easy as possible,\u201d Amanda Jordan points out. Check out!<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rock Content<\/strong>: Can you summarize, in a few words for our audience, what is Local SEO and its benefits for business?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Amanda Jordan:<\/strong> Local SEO is SEO for businesses where geography is a major factor. Content, technical, link building, etc are all local SEO if your business needs to rank in a specific city, county, state, zip code, etc. Local SEO is essentially all SEO with the inclusion of proximity to the searcher being a factor.<\/p>\n<p>If you think about the number of times you\u2019ve looked up a pizza place \u201cnear me\u201d or googled the closest vet, it\u2019s easy to see why this stuff matters. Your customers might do these things at a stoplight or from the couch at midnight\u2014it doesn\u2019t get much more immediate than that. People aren\u2019t going to click through page after page; the business that pops up first, second, or even third is probably the winner. So local SEO really isn\u2019t just another marketing trend. It\u2019s become a cornerstone of how people find pretty much anything physical, whether it&#8217;s a plumber, a yoga studio, or the latest pop-up bakery.<\/p>\n<p>Now, if you widen the lens a bit, there\u2019s another angle worth mentioning: competition is heating up. In 2025, almost any small business with a digital footprint has at least dipped a toe into local SEO, even if they don\u2019t realize it. That means standing out isn\u2019t as simple as tossing your business on Google Maps and hoping for the best. You\u2019ve got to keep up with reviews, post updates, watch your categories, answer questions, and stay sharp with your data\u2014otherwise, newer and hungrier businesses are going to leapfrog you. The landscape\u2019s always shifting, which, frankly, can be exhausting, but there\u2019s also opportunity in that chaos if you stay tuned in.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>RC<\/strong>: Surveys say that, with the pandemic (and even now in 2022), more and more customers want to support local businesses online\u2014it\u2019s the <a href=\"https:\/\/pingback.com\/en\/resources\/local-seo-for-retailers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cBuy Local\u201d movement<\/a>. Can Local SEO help in these cases?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>AJ:<\/strong> Absolutely. Businesses should make it as easy as possible to support them. This means being easy to find and interact with online. While consumers want to support local businesses, these businesses need to make the process and experience as easy as possible. This means having quality reviews, high-quality photos, and an overall great customer experience.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>RC<\/strong>: How does local SEO differ from traditional SEO for brick-and-mortar stores?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>AJ:<\/strong> Local SEO has the added complexity of using Google Business profiles, Apple Maps, Yelp, etc. as tools to increase visibility and leads. Essentially, there are more platforms other than typical Google search results that we know that consumers use to find local businesses. Each of these platforms have their own guidelines, complexities, etc for ranking and converting searchers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your online reputation is also key for local SEO. Businesses that are on Yelp and Google Maps have the ability to gain reviews that are prominently displayed for a variety of searches and intents. So whether someone is searching for a branded or non-branded term, your reputation will be clear. A bad reputation means significantly fewer customers.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>RC<\/strong>: What if my business doesn&#8217;t have a physical address where I aim to reach new customers? Does Local SEO work for me?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>AJ:<\/strong> Google allows businesses to have a service area listing. This means that if you don\u2019t have a brick-and-mortar location and you service your customers at their home or business address, you can still take advantage of Google Maps. Well-optimized content on your website can also help you rank for nearby cities without having a location there.
