They also provided a subscribe function to get new content alerts on the topics users want, and a place for marketers to feature their newsletter and get more subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>Now, in December of the same year, they\u2019ve made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/new-linkedin-analytics-more-insight-into-followers-top-posts\/473330\/#close\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>even<\/strong> <strong>more improvements to their creator analytics<\/strong><\/a>. But what are they and what can they do for you?<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What metrics were improved?<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1) Demographics<\/h3>\n<p>Take a look at your Audience tab now and you\u2019ll find a section on follower growth. Tucked under that is a whole new set of demographic information breaking down details of the people in your audience. You can now see their location, company name and size, what industries they are in, how senior they are, and their job titles.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) Audience Growth<\/h3>\n<p>Again, under the audience tab, you now have insights into how many followers you have, if your audience is growing, and by how much in the past seven days. This shows you your long-term performance, as well as that particular week.<\/p>\n<p>With a handy graph to indicate progress, you should be able to relate any spikes in growth back to new posts or anything new you\u2019ve tried, like introducing videos or a new topic.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Top Performing Posts<\/h3>\n<p>Initially, you\u2019ll be able to see your three top performing posts, but you can click \u201cShow More\u201d to see a list of all of your posts in performance order. This module shows reader reactions, how many comments you have, and how many impressions for each article.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not all glitz and shiny new features\u2014the new analytics can sometimes inspire a weird kind of performance anxiety. You see the numbers and, of course, you want them all to keep going up. But sometimes things plateau, or even dip, and that\u2019s just human. Maybe you try a spontaneous post and it totally flops. Or some in-depth article you labored over hits a nerve and suddenly your engagement graph looks like the Alps. These metrics are helpful, but they shouldn\u2019t boss you around. It\u2019s worth remembering LinkedIn as a platform can be a little unpredictable, and the \u201ctop posts\u201d might not always be the ones you expect.<\/p>\n<p>You can choose your date range for this so you can see how this month\u2019s posts are performing, or this quarter&#8217;s, for example. You can also see the total impressions in the last seven days and whether the trend is going up or down.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"LinkedIn Analytics Upgrade - Digital Marketing News 9th December 2022\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VgNG0e1x_SI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why should you care?<\/h2>\n<p>More data and analytics can only be good news for marketers, whether you\u2019re part of a marketing department or running your own company.<\/p>\n<p>And hey, even if \u201ccreator mode\u201d doesn\u2019t magically double your numbers, it\u2019s still nice to get a sense of who\u2019s actually tuning in. I\u2019ve seen marketers change up their tone completely after just a few weeks studying audience insights\u2014sometimes you think you\u2019re writing for senior execs and it turns out it\u2019s all entry-level folks on the other end. The takeaway? You get to adjust on the fly, and that makes the whole content dance a little less blindfolded. Plus, poking around these metrics can reveal accidental trends in your own posting patterns you probably weren\u2019t even conscious of before.<\/p>\n<p>According to LinkedIn: \u201cIn the past year alone, we\u2019ve seen a nearly 50 percent increase in the number of people following people who have turned on creator mode, and a nearly 30 percent increase in the engagement on content created by people with creator mode turned on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It appears that using creator mode not only gains you access to these new analytics, but also gives you increased reach and engagement.<\/p>\n<p>And using your new insights can take that even further:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1) Validate your audience<\/h3>\n<p>LinkedIn\u2019s new Demographics insights can help you both learn more about your audience and double-check that your audience is out there on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Every marketer wants to focus tightly on the platforms where their audience gathers, without wasting any marketing spend on platforms where they don\u2019t. Now you can know for sure whether LinkedIn is a great place to reach your audience or not.<\/p>\n<p>You can also take what you learn from LinkedIn\u2019s new Demographics to solidify your buyer personas. This, of course, can help you give your audience what it wants and better target all of your marketing, not just what you do on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) See what\u2019s working and what isn\u2019t<\/h3>\n<p>With the new Audience Growth Insights, you\u2019ll be able to keep an eye on whether your audience is growing or not. And insights into your Top Performing Posts can tell you what content your audience really wants and perhaps in what format too.<\/p>\n<p>The combination of the two tools gives you an excellent picture of whether your marketing is working on this platform.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/new-analytics-understand-your-audience-grow-linkedin-keren-baruch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LinkedIn\u2019s announcement<\/a>: Audience Growth Insights \u201ccan help you determine if a conversation topic, new visual format, or speaking opportunity may have influenced your follower growth, helping you inform your strategy moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Generate new content ideas<\/h3>\n<p>The Top Performing Posts insights show all of your posts ranked in performance order. Study this data and you\u2019ll be able to come up with new content ideas based on what your audience really wants.<\/p>\n<p>See whether videos are more popular than articles. Find your most popular topics. Take a good hard look at what\u2019s really performing well and getting engagement and then do more of that.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4) Download analytics for your reports<\/h3>\n<p>All of your analytics data is downloadable to Excel. Simply download what you need and you can edit it and incorporate it into your reports. This allows you to show senior management and the board that your strategies and content are working.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s really no bad news here. LinkedIn has given marketers and creators a great opportunity to dig deep into their audiences and their performance on the platform.
