But it&#8217;s one of those marketing necessities you have to consider anyway because setting sales targets would be a complete waste of time with effective <a href=\"https:\/\/pingback.com\/en\/resources\/what-is-digital-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital marketing<\/a> campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Talking about ad campaigns, 2025 began in a rather interesting fashion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Or should we say: we are certain that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/10\/25\/technology\/alphabet-google-q3-earnings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poor marketing spend trend from the last quarter of 2022<\/a> may continue well into 2025 because everyone is adjusting to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-28\/fed-seen-aggressively-hiking-to-5-triggering-global-recession\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">global recession and worsening inflation rates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not that anyone enjoys talking in circles about budget cuts and how to \u201cdo more with less\u201d\u2014but here we are again, poring over spreadsheets and scrutinizing campaign performance. Sometimes you get lucky and find a small leak you can patch up, and\u2014if you\u2019re persistent\u2014maybe a channel that still pulls its weight. I can\u2019t help but feel we\u2019ve seen this all before, but each year, the levers and dials are ever so slightly re-labeled. There\u2019s always some new metric that starts to matter, or an old one that quietly drops out of the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s weird: in a room full of marketers with all these analytics dashboards open, there\u2019s still a lot of guessing going on. A lot of \u201cwhat-if we try this?\u201d and \u201cmaybe it\u2019s seasonal,\u201d like digital weather forecasters charting some invisible storm. But at some level, those guesses are how new ideas get a foothold\u2014especially when no one\u2019s in the mood to approve a wild spend.
