In Sunday's (August 6, 2006)  W-League Consolation Game the Seattle Sounders Saints took third place honors with a 1-0 win over the Charlotte Lady Eagles.

Seattle forward Lyndsey Patterson scored the game's only goal in the 36th minute with a well-hit shot from the edge of the box that flew past Charlotte keeper Lindsey Deason.

Charlotte had their chances as Ashley Swinehart hit the crossbar with a shot eleven minutes in and Seattle goalkeeper Lisa Brookens was forced into a superb diving save on a 15-yard blast from midfielder Heather Birdsell at 17'.

At the other end, Deason was at full stretch to save a good shot from Patterson in the 19th minute.

Charlotte very nearly found an equaliser with four minutes remaining, as the ball was worked to Swinehart, who was five yards in front of an open goal, but Seattle midfielder Tafara Pulse did brilliantly to lunge and block the shot.

Charlotte outshot Seattle 12 to 9, but couldn't beat goalkeeper Brookens, who earned the shutout by recording eight saves.
